About Us

Our front-line staff are the cornerstone of our team. They provide direct care and support to the persons served with details of the individualized program developed from the care plan. Staffing ratios are developed based on the support needs of the individual with ratios of one staff for one individual or two staff for one individual. Our staff typically work a rotation of 12-hour shifts to ensure that our homes are staffed 24 hours a day.
Active Care provides managers skilled in crisis prevention and intervention that are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to respond to potential crisis situations in order to offer support to both the person served and staff. Once they have assisted in de-escalating the situation, the After-Hours Crisis Response Manager is able to debrief with the person served and staff to ensure that everyone is feeling safe and comfortable.

The Crisis Response managers provide mentoring to the staff including providing oversight of shadow shifts for new staff. They support emergency intake of persons served and fill in for staff in emergencies. These managers travel to the Okanagan and Northern BC when needed to support staff training and implementation of complex client support strategies and safety plans.

The goal of the After-Hours Crisis Response Managers is to reduce the use of community resources and provide skilled intervention through internal resources allowing for person-centered crisis response that is supportive of trauma-informed approaches. It provides a continuum of wrap-around support to the person served and the staff no matter the time of day.
Programs are led by Program Directors and Program Managers responsible for ensuring the best possible service delivery. Managers have a small caseload that allows for daily program oversight. Managers receive regular training opportunities providing them with the skills they require to best support and manage their staff teams.

Active Care also has a skilled team of professionals supporting service delivery, which includes Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Health & Safety and a Facilities and Maintenance Department. Providing oversight of the organization is the Senior Leadership Team and Ownership.

This team ensures that the organization complies with relevant regulations and best practices in business operations.
